Ready to grow roses from seed?

Why Seeds from The Rose Dude?

Rose seeds can be found elsewhere throughout the internet easily. However, there are a lot of seeds that one should be hesitant on buying.

*You will often find pictures of roses that are blue, black, green, rainbow colored, and very intricate patterns in the petals that don’t exist.

*You are given either no planting instructions, or the wrong instructions.

*You are not informed that all rose seeds are genetically different from their parents and siblings, and may not get roses that look like the picture supplied. Sellers often do not make the purchaser aware that rose seeds have relatively low germination rates.

These are big red flags! Please use caution when purchasing seeds from sellers that are not being up front and not giving you detailed, truthful information. Often, glowing reviews are not given, leading to dissatisfaction and falling well short of expectations.

The Rose Dude’s sole purpose is for you to be successful with growing roses from seed. You will not be given seeds from varieties that have not been tested from previous years (other than the Hybridizer’s Seeds) that give lower-than expected results. Full, clear instructions will also be provided, and following the instructions will give you the best chance at success.

*Rose seeds do not have high germination rates. On average, expect a 20-30% rate of germination. Seeds that are purchased come from varieties tested to have at LEAST a 20% germination rate. You will receive enough seeds with this in mind to give you better chances of germination. DO NOT expect all seeds to grow.

*Because rose seeds are genetically different and completely unique, flower colors, petal counts, and growth habits cannot be guaranteed. Even seeds that come from a self-pollination (both mother and father come from the same variety) the offspring may look very different than its parent. The seed parent’s name will be available to you, but there is no guarantee what its seedlings’ will look like.

*The time for your first flower to appear on your rose seedlings can vary greatly. Some roses can bloom as early as 6 weeks after germination, while other roses may take 2 years to start flowering.

What should I expect from the rose seeds?

What do I do with the seeds after I receive them?

After receiving your seeds, there is a crucial process they need to go through prior to planting: they need to be stratified. Rose seeds need to be kept moist and cool for up to 3 months. Placing the seeds in between moist paper towels and using a ziploc baggie, they are kept in the refrigerator during this time. The seeds can be planted after this time.

A fully detailed instruction pamphlet (along with tips) will be provided with every order.
